Meeting called to order by President Carl Blumenthal 6:30pm.

Carl went over a proposed program “Members to Remember” in which member are asked to volunteer to speak about past members and show case their projects. He showed list of those members. A few more were added to list by membership: Tom Church, Tom Cowan, and Jack Townsend.
Officers and Committee Reports: Gary Runyon spoke of the Purple Heart Program and the club donating $500.00 to the program.
Paul Jalbert told of the carvers possible trip to visit Vic Hood and Liepers Fork carvers.
Richard Gulley discussed the new club website and problems getting it up and running. At present to log on go to: TVWW.UTSI.edu. Forum no longer available.
Doyle McConnell reported on recent shop tour and breakfast. Great turn out and all enjoyed trip.
Carl Blumenthal talked about safety of transporting power tools and his experience of blade getting bent on a chop saw and flying apart when operated.
Gary Runyon shared tip on storing wrenches by using magnets.
Michael Layfield volunteered to be publicity chairman.
Larry Wendland talked about turning bee which will be moved to June 6th.
Show and Tell
Doug Dunlap had two sanding blocks he made and showed ease of use. Made with cedar, walnut, and beech. Finish Danish Oil. He also had a segmented pepper mill made of walnut and maple finished with Danish Oil.
John Hartin displayed a bowl made of magnolia finish lacquer.
Mickey Knowles showed a spalted maple bowl finished with sanding sealer and lacquer.
Chuck Taylor brought a small vase made of apple and finished with gloss lacquer. He had a salt and pepper mill finished with oil and wax. Chuck also had a set of nested bowls made of Leyland cypress finished with food safe oil.
Loyd Ackerman displayed a segmented vase made with maple and walnut. Finish lacquer and Beall wax system.
Danny Maher showed pics of a Little Free Library he built to be placed at Russell Barnett dealership. The club has built another prototype for mass production. Materials will be purchased with funds from our club and Friends of the Library. The units will be placed outside county public schools and other locations around the county.
Sam Clark offered to members free blueprints of writing desk and chair. He had patterns for scroll saw, hats and other items.
Program
Hobby Hardwood Alabama – Robert Milton
Robert is a Woodmizer Pro Sawyer, a Nyle Kiln Beta tester, teaches sawing and drying techniques and gives local demonstrations.
He told members the business is a mom and pop operation. They produce top quality kiln dried hardwood. He started out building houses and eventually selling wood wholesale and retail. They have a wide selection of 30 different species available. He explained the process and said their process has them touching board 6 times before it is sold. He explained grades and comparison to others. Robert invited member to visit. Answered questions. Website Hobby Hardwood ala.com.
