40 Year Celebration Planning

We asked, and gained, 40th Anniversary Celebration Committee members: Loyd Ackerman, Richard Gulley, Tom Gillard, Vince Zaccardi, Larry & Sherry Wendland, Chris and Joetta Sautter, Karen Browning, Michael & Brenda Zuccaro, and Jim Jolliffe. Events will occur throughout the year including a banquet!
Gary Runyon presented a proposed monthly meeting calendar for 2025.

EVENTS

December 7th – TVW Christmas Party Lunch was a great success! Thanks to Karen Browning and her set up team, Richard Gulley for his musical leadership with carols and to all who came out to have fun and fellowship! “Freddie’s” brisket was the crowd favorite outstanding main course and was accompanied by tasty sides and desserts!

PROGRAM – Super Show & Tell

Gary Runyon showed an Arts & Crafts style stained glass floor lamp that followed the style of a grandfather clock. He used curly cherry and birdseye maple and beautiful stained glass. He finished the lamp with Minwax antique oil.

Chris Sautter showed us a shoe rack made of maple, walnut and cherry. The shoe rack breaks down for easy disassembly and assembly. He finished the rack with Tried & True.

Dan Buholzer carved an owl in South American Spanish cedar. He used clear coat for the finish.

Zachary Zuccaro turned a maple bowl. He used epoxy and linseed oil to finish it.

Brenda Zuccaro made a scroll sawn Nativity scene made of spruce and cedar. She finished it with lacquer. Brenda and Michael also showed a napkin holder they made together made of walnut and maple and finished with lacquer.

Michael Zuccaro made an Telecaster-style electric guitar made from vintage Brazilian rosewood and maple. He finished it with lacquer.

Loyd Ackerman showed two of his segmented turnings. One was made from lyptus and turned in 2004. It was finished with polyurethane. Another was made from walnut and maple segments and turned in 2021 and finished with lacquer.

Vince Zaccardi showed a 4” platter made from ambrosia maple and finished with lacquer. He turned a natural edge maple bowl and finished with Tried and True. He also showed two turned bowls made from maple and spalted maple, both awaiting a finish.

Jim Jolliffe showed some old and new Santa basswood carvings finished with boiled linseed oil, acrylic wash, lacquer and wax. Jim also showed an unfinished cherry hat rack he made to store baseball style hats. He showed a laminated cutting board made of ambrosia maple, cherry and walnut. He showed it unfinished but applied a mineral oil finish after the meeting to send it to its new home.

The next meeting will be January 21st.
