Greetings
Well, it’s been a couple busy weeks for several of the club members. We’d like to thank Paul Credle for his generous donation of his entire shop. He’s preparing for some major changes in his life and our thoughts and prayers will be with him during this transition. More about the tool sale soon.
Our president, Jim Jolliffe also arranged for our club to be advertised on the Tullahoma Utilities Authority’s channel six. More about that later too.
While several club members helped out on both these projects, I’d like to give a special thanks to Jim Jolliffe for all his work on both these projects. He’s gone above and beyond his duties as club president.
Now let’s get started with SPLINTERS.
May Meeting
We had Social Hour at the May meeting. There was a lot of woodworking being discussed. If only we could work that fast!
June Meeting
Allan Hale will discuss Felling Trees
Tool Sale This Saturday!
On Saturday, June 15th from 8-12:00 noon the contents of Paul Credle’s shop will be sold. The sale will be held at Jim Jolliffe’s home at 201 Jolliffe Acres Lane, Tullahoma.
Thanks to all who helped moving the shop contents, sorting and pricing. And a special thanks to Paul Credle for his donation.
They’re Gonna Put Us In the Movies!
Well at least on the local cable channel of the Tullahoma Utilities Board. On Tuesday afternoon Vince Zaccardi and Darren Earle, Geoff Rhoem and Richard Gulley, Matt Brothers and Paul Jalbert stormed the studios of TUA and put on a spectacular presentation of what Tennessee Valley Woodworkers is all about. That is, we did the best we could in 30 minutes to discus turning, CNC & laser, lutherie, furniture making and hand carving. A point that came up multiple times was how the club and it’s members helped nurture the abilities of all it; members. I think the episode will first show on Saturday evening. They told me that the episode would be available for on demand streaming and on a YouTube channel. We’ll keep you posted.
May 2024 Show & Tell
Richard Gulley showed 3 items: using his laser machine he made a “50 Years Together” sign from 1/8 inch plywood, a Penny from ¼ inch plywood his daughter, Penny’s business. He also showed a CNC mortise and tenon joint made out of Sycamore and a brass insert as a test fit for a client’s blanket stand.
Chuck Taylor showed a segmented/angled cutting board he made out of Oak, Maple, Walnut, and Cherry and finished with Linseed Oil and Tried and True.
Garry Runyon: Showed us a 4000/ 8000 sharpening stone from a single stone. A very rare stone to have the different grits naturally occurring on either side of the same stone. (Pic1, Pic2)

Rick Laws sent me this link about Roman architecture. I think you’ll find it unusually interesting.
