Next Meeting December 15
The meeting will be at 6:30 pm at the University
of Tennessee Space institute, room H111.
December 15, 2015 -- Super Show and
Tell -- Everyone is asked to bring something to show and discuss.
Everyone is interested in what everyone else is up to. Something
old that you once made; something that you just finished; something you
need help with. Focus on your stuff. If you're still too
bashful to share your stuff just come and see what others are up to.
It's a lot of fun every year. This year should have some
interesting moments.

CARVER'S CORNER
The carvers are meeting twice a month on the
first and third Saturdays from 8:30 to 10:30 am at Jim Jolliffe's shop.
At recent meetings, the focus has been completion the soaring eagle
carving so that we can move on to the full-size carousel horse project.
Fortunately the long wingspan of the eagle allows several carvers to
work simultaneously. The fish that will be clutched in the eagle's claws
is also nearing completion. If not working on the eagle, other members
worked on the own carvings. Fall is also the time to enjoy the annual
wood carving shows in Huntsville, AL and Dayton, OH. None of the carvers
competed this year but several members attended the Huntsville and
Dayton shows looking for inspiration.

Twice the push stick, twice the control
I feel safer performing table saw rip cuts with this double push
stick that I came up with—two push sticks connected with a 1
1⁄4″ dowel that’s longer than the width of the blade guard. It
allows me to cut narrower pieces without getting my fingers
close to either side of the spinning blade. Plus, it straddles
my blade guard, giving me one more incentive to leave the guard
on the saw.
