Tennessee Valley Woodworkers
November 1995
Old
Business
The
annual picnic at Tim’s Ford was a great success, even though I couldn’t
convince Ross to bid on half the items he really needed at the auction. Judy
reminds us to pay for our auction items and to get receipts to her for items we
purchased for the picnic. The tenth anniversary committee reported on some of
their plans for celebrating next year, including a program on the goals and
history of the club. Crotia reported on the game boards made for 4-H and youth
camps.
New
Business
The
executive committee have asked the following people to serve as officers of the
club next year; Ross Roepke, president, Doyle McConnell, vice president and
program chairman, Lucinda Howard, secretary, Judy Davis, treasurer, and Jack
Townsend, publicity. The position of newsletter editor is still open. Goeff and
I cannot continue to do it next year, so we need a volunteer if members wish to
continue having a newsletter.
Show
and Tell
Lucinda
brought her students’ wood carvings for suggestions from the members. Tom
Church brought a box elder stool that he is making for the store, and spoke
about phase converters. Winfield brought a cat carving that my dog kept barking
at, so it must be very good! Phil Bishop brought a jewelry box, and Ross
brought a footstool and told us that he won another $35 for a woodworking
suggestion. Way to go, Ross! There was also a great flower stand and an
exhibition of stool legs turned of different woods.
Program
Phil
Bishop demonstrated his power carving tool and demonstrated the techniques that
he has developed for repairing and replacing carvings on antique furniture.
Next
Meeting
The
next meeting will be held on November 21, 1995 at 7pm at Duck River. We hope
we’ll see you there.
