January, 1995
Dear Members,
I have never been
president of anything before and have never put out a newsletter before, so
this is going to be an interesting new experience for this new year. I hope
everyone’s resolutions have the word “wood” somewhere in them....
I
hear that there was a great Christmas party this year. I can’t believe I had to
miss it. Jim VanCleave said that he was glad his year as president was over,
but I know we all enjoyed his leadership and humor the past 12 months.
There
was a video made of the Paul Pitts woodtuming seminar if anyone is interested
in borrowing it. Roy Farmer has it if you’d like to see it.
Henry
Davis suggested a road trip to Atlanta to Highland Hardware to see Norm Abram
at their grand
opening
on April 29th. This wi1I be a new business item to see if we can take a bus and
perhaps even make it an overnight trip.
The
last meeting was a trip down nostalgia lane - many people brought their first
woodworking project. At the end of the year it is good to take a look back and
see how far we all have come with skills and experience. It helps when we are
in our shops and NOTHiNG is going well.
Here
is the recipe for Cornbread Salad that many people wanted from the Christmas
party.
1 1/2 cups corn meal 3 T. oil
3/4 cup water 1 egg
1 cup sweet pickle relish 1 cup bell pepper, chopped
1 cup onion, chopped 1 cup celery, chopped
l tomato, seeded 1 small pod hot pepper, seeded,
( optional)
1
cup salad dressing
Mix
corn meal, water, oil, and egg and bake and cool. Mix vegetables in 1/2 cup
salad dressing. Crumble corn bread in vegetable mixture. Put in 13 by 9” dish
and spread remaining salad dressing on top of the mixture. Sprinkle bacon or
bacon bits on top. Flavor is improved by refrigerating for a few hours.
Our
next meeting will be on January 17, 1995.
Hope to see you all there.
