TENNESSEE VALLEY WOODWORKERS JUNE ‘92
Well here we are in June... a month of graduations,
weddings, the longest day, and the welcoming of summer. My tune this June is
humble bumble “do you know how many Churches it takes to goof up a
newsletter???”...ONLY ONE...Yes it’s all Tom’s. Proof again that HASTE does in fact make WASTE...Just a big hurry
to go on vacation. The worst part is that the real page two would have made
even Paul Harvey himself proud.. .Susan begs you to accept my most
apologies...even if she did the folding mailing and quality inspections.
JUNE MEETING
.Check that calendar. Our third Tuesday meeting will be this
coming Tuesday June 16. Our business meeting agenda contains several important
items: Plans for the July picnic need to be finalized. Remember, the picnic
coincides with our Saturday craft demonstration day at Falls Mill on July 18.
We’ll also be finalizing plans for our demonstrations and displays as well. Tom
Cowan has come -through again and graciously volunteered to present a brief
program this month. Tom will be demonstrating the basic elements of turned pieces
one element
at a time. Then he will show how these elements or shapes
can be combined to form a complete part ...like a decorative leg. YES, of
course we will be having our world famous SHOW AND TELL event. If you have any
examples of decorative turnings please bring them for show and tell. If you
can’t find a “well turned leg” bring a neighbor or a friend to the meeting.

MAY MIS-MEETING
For those enquiring minds, the real page two of last month’s
news letter actually read like this:

MAY MEETING
Check that calendar. Our third Tuesday meeting will be this
coming Tuesday May 19. Our meeting/program will be a field trip to the wood
museum & exhibit up at Sewanee. Several months ago Ross Roepke contributed
some information on this collection for our newsletter. Doctor Potter of the
Natural Resources department at the University of the South has arranged to
have the exhibit open for us on Tuesday evening. The exhibit area is rather
small so we will probably have to stage ourselves through in groups. The museum is in room 109 of Snowden Hall,
near the library. The map on the next page should help in navigating. For those
of interested in car pooling we are gathering at the Duck River Electric Building
in Decherd at 5:30 with hopes of getting up there by 6:00. For those of you
with other planning on driving directly .. .we’ll see you at 6:00. Please bring
a guest, neighbor, spouse or friend.
Jack Townsend is alive and well!!!!
We heard it straight from the horse’s mouth.. .Jack came
through his recent round of surgery a better person. Good news Jack.
