NOVEMBER ALSO BRINGS US THANKSGIVING WHICH SEEMS TO GET
BLENDED
IN” TO “THE HOLIDAYS”. IT SEEMS THAT OCCASIONALLY WE LET
THANKSGIVING MARK THE STARTING LINE” FOR THE CHRISTMAS
RATHER
THAN A TIME TO REFLECT ON OUR MANY BLESSINGS... OUR FAMILIES,
FRIENDS, HEALTH AND ALL OF THOSE THINGS THAT WE MAY TAKE FOR
GRANTED FOR TIME TO TIME.

PIONEER SKILLS AT FALLS MILL
IS A COOKIE IN THE HAND WORTH A PIE-ON-EAR??? IF WE ONLY
KNEW A
PIE-ON-EAR WE COULD ASK IT!! SEARCH NO FURTHER... .WE HAD A
GOOD
SHOWING AT PIONEER SKILLS DAY AT FALLS MILL AT THE END OF
OCTOBER. PHIL BISHOP, TOM COWAN, WINFIELD BENNETT AND HENRY
DAVIS
ALL CONTRIBUTED TO THE DEMONSTRATIONS OF PIONEER SKILLS. OUR
APOLOGIES TO ANY OTHER PARTICIPANTS WE MAY HAVE MISSED.
OCTOBER MEETING
PHIL STARTED THE MEETING OUT WITH A WEATHER REPORT, OR SO IT
SEEMED. HE TOLD ABOUT OLD RAINY DAY PARTICIPANTS ON THE
SQUARE
OR HOW TO WIPE WATER OFF FURNITURE. ONCE AGAIN WE APPRECIATE
ALL
THE MEMBERS THAT KEEP THIS CLUBS ACTIVITIES IN THE
SPOTLIGHT.
EVEN THOUGH FOLKS WERE JUMPING OVER THEIR CHAIRS TO
VOLUNTEER FOR
THE NOMINATING COMMITTEE, PHIL HAD TO NARROW THE CROWD DOWN
TO
JUST FOUR. THOSE LUCKY MEMBERS WERE, BILL MOYE, BILL CHEW,
TOM
GILLARD, AND PHIL BISHOP, I THINK. I TELL YOU THE NOISE WAS
SO
LOUD I COULD HARDLY HEAR THE APPOINTMENTS. THEIR REPORT
SHOULD
BE THIS MONTH SO IF THEY CALL YOU TO VOLUNTEER FOR AN
OFFICE.
REMEMBER TO TAKE PART AND BE A PARTICIPATING MEMBER IN THIS
FINE
ORGANIZATION. WE CERTAINLY APPRECIATE AND ARE PROUD OF THE
WORK
THIS YEARS QFRICERS HAVE ACCOMPLISHED.
SHOW AND TELL
TOM GILLARD BROUGHT ANOTHER ONE OF HIS GREAT BOATS AND THIS
ONE
WAS MODELED AFTER AN 1800’S FISHING BOAT. BILL MOYE RAKED
SOME
FASCINATING LEAVES OUT OF HIS YARD. THEY LOOKED LIKE WOOD
WITH
BURED VEINS IN THEM. WINFIELD GAVE A TESTIMONIAL ABOUT HIS
NEW
JOB AND THE TIME IT ALLOWS HIM FOR WHITTLING. HIS SCHEDULE
GOES
SOMETHING LIKE THIS--WORK A HALF DAY ON MONDAY, OFF ON
TUESDAY~
HALF DAY WEDNESDAY, OFF ON THURSDAY. IT’S A TOUGH JOB BUT
SOMEBODY’S GOT TO DO IT. REMINDS ME OF THE GUY THAT ONLY
PLAYS
GOLF ON DAYS THAT END WITH A “Y”. JACK TOWNSEND’S FAMILY OF
CLOCKS IS MULTIPLYING.
RICHARD GULLEY HAD A TOYS FOR TOTS
TRA CTOR THAT COULD BE A FORD OR A JOHN DEERE DEPENDING ON
THE
PAINT JOB. JIM VAN CLEEVE SHOWED A GREAT OLD PLANE FROM THE
BEDROCK FORD PLANE. THEIR ADDRESS IS 2700 STONEWA Y DRIVE,
ISN’ T
IT ? RICHARD HAGAR PLAYED THE DULCIMER HE MADE BECAUSE NOW
HE
KNOWS THE RULES, NO GETTING OUT OF IT. AND ROY FARMER HAD A
GREAT DEAL OF INFLUENCE IN THIS ORGANIZATION. WHY, HE HAS
PHIL
IN HIS POCKET. ROSS ROEPKE’S JEWELRY BOX WAS SUCH A HIT THAT
WE’VE INCLUDED SOME BASICS ON OUR LAST PAGE.
FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO MISSED GUM JOHNSON’S TRIBUTE TO WOOD,
YOU
MISSED A FINE PROGRAM. HERE WAS A MAN INTO WOOD. EVERYONE
THERE
ENJOYED HIS TALK AND HE DID A FINE JOB OF ANSWERING
QUESTIONS.
HE IS THE THIRD GENERATION OF HIS FAMIL Y IN THE LUMBER
BUSINESS,
AND HAD PLENTY OF FINE STORIES TO TELL.
MEMBER L/PDA TE
BILL WARMBROD IS STILL IN INTENSIVE CARE AT ST. THOMAS IN
NASHVILLE AND ALTHOUGH HIS CONDITION IS CRITICAL, THE
DOCTORS
HAVE HIM LISTED .45 STABLE. HE STILL CAN’T RECEIVE CARDS OR
LETTERS BUT WE THINK OF HIM AND WILL INFORM EVERYONE WHEN HE
CAN
START RECEIVING EVERYONE‘S PRAYERS AND GOOD WISHES.
