MANKIND.. .WITH RESULTS DUE THIS WEEK.. .THE ANXIETY OF NOT KNOWING
IS DIFFICULT TO COPE WITH. I’M SURE JACK WOULD APPRECIATE A CALL,

BY BOB TROTMAN, CHAD VOORHEES, LYNN BRUCE SWEET, CRAIG NUTT,- AND

ONCE UPON A TIME, TOM AND I WENT TO A SHOW THERE AND SAW SOME
MOST UNUSUAL FURNITURE MADE OUT OF BLEACHED MAPLE AND SHAPED LIKE
VEGTABLES. YEARS LATER, THIS GUY TURNS UP IN FINE WOODWORKING.
So TAKE IN THE SHOW FOLKS, YOU MIGHT SEE A FUTURE STAR OF THE
SAWDUST GANG. ( I PLAN ON GETTING A FREE DINNER OUT OF IT, TOO.)

ROY FARMER WENT TO THE ATLANTA WOODWORKING SHOW AND SHARED HIS
VISIT WITH THOSE OF US WHO WERE NOT ABLE TO ATTEND. HE SPOKE OF
THE MAN WHO DEMONSTRATED HOW TO BEND WOOD. THAT PROBABLY MAKES
ALL OF YOU WIVES REMEMBER THAT LITTLE PROMISE ABOUT “SOMEDAY I’LL
BUILD YOU A SET OF WINDSOR CHAIRS, IF ONLY I COULD BUY ALL THESE
TOOLS, SOUND FAMALIAR? ROY SAYS THAT 3M WAS GIVING AWAY FREE
SAMPLES OF CARPET PAD AND THEY REALLY DID WORK TO KEEP YOUR WORK
FROM SLIDING. WE DISCUSSED RENTING A BUS NEST YEAR AND GOING
DOWN FOR THE DAY. LET’S REMEMBER THAT NEXT YEAR. THE WOODWORKING
“WIDOWS” MIGHT COMBINE A SHOPPING SPREE IN THE ATLANTA AREA. THAT
MIGHT TURN OUT TO BE ONE OF THE MOST EXPEN$IVE “WOODWORKING”
SHOWS ANY OF HAVE EVER HAD A NIGHTMARE ABOUT.

JIM VAN CLEEVE HAD AN INGENIOUS TOY BOX THAT WAS SHAPED LIKE A
CABOOSE AND HAS BEEN TRYING HIS HAND AT WOOD TURNING WITH THAT
BIG LATHE HE HAS. BOB REESE BUILT A HORSE OUT OF REJECTED
PIECES, THAT HE TENDERELY CALLED FRANCES THE HORSE, NOT THE MULE
I THINK BEING A GRANDPA KEEPS BOB PRETTY BUSY IN HIS SPARE TIME.
TOM GILLARD HAD A SNAKE—IN—A—BOX THAT WAS INSPIRED BY THAT FAMOUS
COMEDIAN ROY UNDERHILL. TOM COWAN HAD A CHERRY VASE, AND SOME
SMALL TURNED BOXES, THAT LOOKED LIKE GOOD SHOW ITEMS. AND HOWARD
COULSON BROUGHT IN A JIG FOR SILVER SOLDERING BAND SAW BLADES, AS
WELL AS A MAPP TORCH THAT HE BOUGHT AT SEARS. HOWARD SAYS THAT
40~ SILVER SOLDER IS THE TRICK.
SOMEONE, AND I DON’T REMEMBER WHO. WAS TELLING ME ABOUT A
COLLECTIBLES SHOW EVERY FIRST WEEKEND IN LEBANON. WE NEED TO TRY
AND FIND MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THIS EVENT. SUPPOSEDLY THE ITEMS
ARE NOT QUITE AS EXPENSIVE AS THE FLEA MARKET IN NASHVILLE.
