Yes; the weather outside is frightfull...the chill of the shop is spiteful.

Oh. those scraps of wood for turninq... they feel much better burning.

Wouldn’t. the old shop be much neater if we only had a heater.

Old Santa’s elfs would be siriqinq a different tune..if the weather was as warm as June.

Yes; its Decernber again; and time to wrap up our annual “Toys for lots” program. brave the chill of the shop and briqhten up the holidays for- some less fortunate children. As usual; we’11 be collecting up any toys; shopmade or store-bought, at our annual Christmas gathering. (More about the party later) Judy Davis and Susan Church will he distributing to the toys programs in Franklin and Coffee counties. Please bring your toys in cardboard boxes if possible. This will make distribution much easier.

In the past. Joe Pawlick and Terry Penn have been the inspiration behind this worthy project. Our thanks to both of them for their leadership and efforts. I’m sure we’ll continue to support. this fine tradition. It has become another memorable part of the Christmas season.

Christmas Gathering

This year our gathering will be at the First Church of the Nazarene Fellowship Hall in Decherd. (See attached map) Note that we will be starting at 6:30 (a half hour earlier than usual) That’s Tuesday evening; December 20. This will he a covered dish - potluck event. If it’s anything like the picnic. my appetite is ready now. Families, friends, and spouses are encouraged to attend. Long lost members are also encouraged to come share the fellowship. There’ s no need to bring a toy; just join in the fun. The club will be providing paper plates, utensils, ice and drinks. Our special thanks to Richard Gulley for arranging the use of the fellowship hall. We’ve just grown too large for the house.

Speaking of fun, we’ll be joined by Paul Pyle and the Awalt Ramblers. This is the same fine group of accomplished musicians that provided us with entertainment last year. Don’t miss it.. We’11 be looking for you.

A thank you note

We received a note from Rheta Shirley thanking us for the flowers; We all do remember Bill in many ways.. .puttinq a blade on the handsaw, qrinding a tool. and his special way of folding blades. Last month the club voted to buy a book and donate it to the library in memory of Bill.

Notes from the November meeting.

Tom Cowan’s idea for a super show and tell turned into just that. All 31 members plus 3 visitors got their eyes full of projects. Gina’s basket had to be the most interesting. and the recepient the proudest. Bill Moye’s carvinq; especially Srnokey and the Duck Hunter charmed us all. Henry and Judy Davis combined their talents on a painted bench. Winfield Bennett had a $500 walking stick. Just in case you were looking for a little Christmas present to put under the tree. Tom Cowan and Josepf Maierhacher had some turned bowls. Richard Gulley, it was plane to see. had a book on planes and some old planes. Howard Coulson brought in some mulberry that all the turners were looking at with green eyes. Bill Knight showed some turned Christmas ornaments that inspired Tom so that he came home arid started on some right away. And to top it off. Phil showed a bowl he turned that was right up there in the John Jordan class for paper thin, why you could almost see through it, turning.
