ISSUE 12, DEC. 9,1986
NOVEMBER NOTES
How
about that meeting! November’s gathering featured a potpourri of programs,
something for everyone. If you were unfortunate and weren’t able to attend,
here are just a few of the highlights: The Eads’ presented a program on a
children’s museum that is just getting underway in the area. Display boxes for
grain and small objects may be needed for the children. A group may soon be
formed to see just how we may best help out.
Henry Davis read the proposed changes to the constitution and By-Laws, all of which deal with a new “Family” Membership and voting privileges. The second reading will be made at the January meeting for those who missed the first reading.
“Show
and Tell” was a highlight. It’s amazing to see what everyone is working on.
What a great diversity of talent and interests we have: Tom Cowan demonstrated
a scraper sharpening technique; Terry Penn showed the Lincoln Logs he’s making;
Murrell Chattin showed pictures of the cherry bed and other recent projects
he’s completed; and Mayford Clayton, Tom Church, and Bill Warmbrod all showed
toys they’ve made. Thanks to all of you for the interest and hard work.
Speaking of toys!!
TOYS FOR TOTS
Terry Penn, co—chairman of our Toys For Tots project asked that those f inished toys be brought to our next meeting. If they can’t be ready by then you can drop them off at Terry’s or Joe Pawlick’s houses. Both live on Rock Creek road in Estill Springs. Henry Davis works at Cleveland Pneumatics in Tullahoma and has agreed to collect any late arrivals from the Tullahoma area. We will take them to the Fire Department and Herald Chronicle on the 22nd— time to turn up the heat!
A
major meeting highlight was election of new Officers for 1987. Elected by
acclamation were:
President Tom Church
Vice President Tom Baskin
Secretary Bill Warmbrod
Treasurer Bill Knight
Pub Ii city Jack Townsend
Our
heartiest congratulations to the new officers, you can count on the support of
everyone in the club. For old officers and new, there will be an executive
committee meeting after the January meeting. Why not in December, you ask? Its because of the—
It’s
certainly a special time of the year and Tom and Susan Church want us to share
it with them. The Churches have offered to host the December 16th meeting at
their home in Belvidere. A map is included on the last page of this news
letter. Tom and Susan will provide refreshments and will show us their workshop
and some of their woodworking projects. I asked
Susan if we could bring anything and she assured me that we only needed to bring ourselves and our
families. Yup, families too!
We’ll
conduct no business at the December 16th meeting but ask that if you have some
toys for the Toys For Tots project, bring them along. We’ll vote on
Constitution and By-Law changes during our January meeting.
CRAFTSMEN
NEEDEDl
Phil
Bishop and Tom Cowan often receive requests to make furniture, shelving units,
turnings, and other woodcraft items. Since both of them have full time jobs as
well as an avid interest in their own projects, they often need to turn away
prospective sales. If you’re interested and helping the rejected customers out,
Phil and Tom could give your name to the “craftsmen seekers”. Talk to either of
them if you may have some free time available.
