MEETING 7-16-19
Meeting called to order by President Karen Browning at 6:30pm.
Visitors: Andrew and Jessica Hyder, Ron McBee
Committee Reports: Carvers- Darrell Albert told about power carving seminar set
for July 27th. Sent around sign up sheet. Shop Tours- Doyle McConnell said none
planned at this time. Treasurer- Paul Jalbert reminded all about dues.

Vince Zaccardi told club Hands On Science Center celebration week before tool
sale.
Karen Browning informed members that some have asked to consider moving
Christmas party earlier in the day (lunch or brunch). To be looked into.
Matt Brothers said a new business Gallery 41 now open in Pelham. Manager Glenn
Smith. For more info contact Matt.
SHOW and TELL:
Gary Runyon showed slides of workbench he built with elm top and ash base. Pics
of vises on bench.
Gary Bennett displayed 2 small salt and pepper grinders Made with ash, red
cedar, and purple heart.
Judy Bennett showed a cardinal wreath. Made using walnut, yellow heart cedar,
ash, cypress, and mahogany. Finished with deft lacquer.
Richard Gulley had a small boat being made for vacation bible school. Will make
40. No finish yet.
Fred Heltsley brought a sanding wheel and explained uses.
Ross Roepke had a unique table he designed and made.
PROGRAM: Marvin Miller – Turning Threaded Boxes
Marvin went through procedures to making boxes with threaded lids. He brought
and showed some tools he made. Explained preparing wood blank. Outlined steps:
drill hole to fit chuck, part off lid and bore lid before threading. Put a
relief for thread stop and square thread area. He uses cutter to thread and uses
CA glue to stabilize before last cut. Bore the bottom, prepare for threading,
use calipers to determine thread diameter, cut threads and check fit. Used video
to show threading procedure. Marvin answered questions.
AUCTION: Richard Gulley and Doyle McConnell handled the auction duties. They
were great at getting great prices for all donated items.
The auction raised $1,116.00 for the club. Great participation.
