Jim Jolliffee announced no carvers meeting 1st Saturday
July due to conflict.
Loyd Ackerman - Summer Seminar with Ronnie
Young August 25th at Decherd Church of the Nazarene. Fee $30.00 includes
lunch.
Vince said he was contacted about exhibition at Tullahoma Arts
Center next year. Asked if there is any interest. Loyd expressed that he
thinks we should concentrate on one large event that we can control. Members
felt that proper thing for us to do.
Vince also had been contacted to
assist with Greeway project in Tullahoma. He said if anyone wants to help
let him know.
Life in Patterns works of Laura Petrovich-Cheney at Belmont
University till Sept7th. Works from reclaimed materials from Gatlinburg
fires and hurricane Sandy.
President Karen Browing took over meeting.
Gave a brief lesson on tree rings.

Karen notified membership of the
passing of member Larry Dameworth.
SHOW and TELL:
Doug Dunlap
showed a pepper mill made of cherry and walnut. He also had a pepper mill
made of plywood. Finish tung oil and lacquer.
Bob Addington made bear
claws on CNC used to stir vegetables or salad.
Vince Zaccardi brought 2
bowls made of Mimosa. One had a decorative rim and both finished with
lacquer. He also spoke of hearing safety and importance of ear protection.
Tony Murphy showed a table made of cherry finish shellac. He made this table
from a class with Larry Bird in Dandbridge tn.
Chuck Taylor displayed
pepper mill made of walnut and maple. He had a made of apple finish lacquer.
He also displayed a large bowl of made from apple burl. The bowl is unique
as it had large rough hole on side. Finish satin lacquer.
Jim Accord
showed a flute made of cedar and finished with wipe on poly. His
granddaughter, Constance Hawley, played for members.
Richard Gulley
brought some decorative Christmas stars made on CNC. One he explained not
right as machine started over fer he changed bit. He told club he bought
Richard Stark's shop with many interesting items.
Of others spend week at
Aeromont in Gatlinburg each
PROGRAM: Bill Mauzy – Bowl Turner
Bill
has been turning for 14 years and is a member of Tn. Association of
Woodturners. He with a number of others spend a week at Aeromont in
Gatlinburg turning. Bill said what he likes about turning is working with
his hands.
Bill went through process starting with log, how to cut it,
rough out and finish. He uses min-wax antique oil finish.
He displayed a
number of items he made and described how he made them. He showed a bowl he
obtained from Tom Church's wife. He said may sell and donate money to
charity.
He stressed the importance of eye and lung safety while working.
