Valley Woodworkers Club Meeting - July 21,2015 munutes
President Paul Fulks opened the meeting at 6:30 PM and the visitors were
John Mines Jr. and Sr., Darryl Alberts, Jerry Jindricks Winn Phibbs, Greg
Morris and Adam Kahn. Paul
mentioned some websites for us to use: Wood: database.com --all aspects of
any wood (characteristics and uses explained). The carvers met on the first
Saturday of the month at Jim Joliffe's shop ( his phone no. is
931-393-2552). The August meeting will have a program presented by
Alf Sharp. On September 15,2015 Doyle McConnell will teach how to turn
Christmas ornaments. On October 20,2015 Tom Cowan and Pete Miller will put
on a demonstration. 31 people
attended the Summer Seminar at the Cowan Fine Arts Center and it was a big
success. Larry Ridge in Soddy Daisy does a carving school on carosel
animals- further details later. September 19-26,2015 is the Cofee County
Fair, and Doyle McConnell asked for volunteers to help at the club building.
November-December 2015 is our 30 th Anniversary and Christmas party
combination. Tentative site is the AEDC officers club (details TBA). Future
shop tours- see Doyle McConnell. Ross Roepke said that the Tullahoma
Literacy Council has a lot of wood working books for sale (very cheap).The
show and tell portion followed a short break. The July program was presented
by Jim Joliffee on carving the human face and form.
