Loyd Ackerman called the meeting to order at 7:00.

Alice Jenson and Jerry Mathis were welcomed as guests.

No new members were added at this meeting.

Chuck Taylor was thanked for his continuing work on splinters. Please notify Chuck for any changes to your contact info.

The library now has 51 titles. See Henry Davis for details.

Carver’s Corner: The workshop with Randy Walters was a great event.

Everyone enjoyed the club picnic, about 70 people attended. The auction was very successful with about $700 raised for the club. Loyd showed a video of Felix Rees in his debut as the club comedian. He thanked Felix and Richard Gulley for their hard work.

Upcoming Events: Turning Bee at Tom Cowen’s shop on June 20^th.

Coffee County Fair third week in Sept.

Fall Seminar on Oct. 24^th.

Christmas Dinner on Dec. 4^th.

Paul Fulks gave a good outline of the upcoming turning bee and passed around a signup sheet to confirm attendees.

Doyle McConnell talked about starting the shop tours again in September and asked those interested in hosting a shop tour to please see him so a schedule can be set.

Loyd stated that the club is sending a card and a turned gift to Ann Cline for the excellent Tempo article and her efforts in publicity for the Exhibition.

The auction for the club cabinet will end September 15^th. If you want to place a bid contact Loyd in writing or email.

Show and Tell:

Loyd had a music stand for Ladoris’ son.

Tom Cowan showed one of six dining room chairs he made for Mary. They are made of poplar and finished with milk paint and a lacquer overspray.

Gary Runyon displayed a spoke shave and a bow saw from a kit made out of redbud and hickory. He also talked about Locktite 324, which is a super strong glue.

Vince Zaccardi had a walnut bowl with a maple bottom. He commented that his interest in turning started at the turning bee in 2008.

Alice Jensen displayed a very old sassafras limb with knotholes and other natural contours.

Program: Tom Cowan gave an educational talk on how to distinguish different period furniture.
