Monthly Meeting Minutes

 

The meeting was held at the First Church of The Nazarene, Dechard, TN.

President Loyd Ackerman called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. January 17, 2006

 

He then welcomed the visitors, Larry Scott, Willy Woodall, and Bill Ward along with new members John King and John Rampy.

 

Thanks were extended to Jim Steadman for serving as host to the coffee break.

 

He announced that 2006 dues are due and should be paid soon.

 

The actions of the executive committee which met Jan 10 were reviewed.

            The committee members were announced

            The Calendar of events for 2006 was presented

            The plans for fund raising was presented

 

Announcements were made

            The splinter carvers will meet Jan. 19 at 6:30 at Phil Bishop’s

            The Dogwood Festival will be April 7, 8 & 9. Ken Gould, chairman

 

Old business was called for with no response.

 

New business was called for with no response.

 

Show and Tell followed;

            Thanks were given to Lewis for operating the video camera.

            Doyle McConnell – A work-in-progress, a turning to be turned into a nautilus    sculpture.

            Matt Brothers- An advent candle stand

            Dave Whyte- A band sawed box

            Bob Lowrance- A carving of a barber

            Ross Roepke – 2 Boxes

            Dick Wollam – A driftwood calla Lilly

            Tom Gillard Jr. – A wooden quilt piece

            Bob Reese – Two tool rests and two relief carvings of Jesus praying, he also has a         band saw and lath for sale.

            Tom Cowan – A period table reproduction in the William and Mary style

            Bob Leonard – Some samples of boxwood and a flower vase from it

            Greg Seivers – Two turned bowls 

 

After a break Tom Cowan introduced Ross Roepke who gave the program on Furniture Design Issues.
